Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership

YCEP Leadership Day (The Scarborough News)

Established in 2022, The Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership is a collaborative group of nine local schools (partner schools).  Through developing and strengthening existing relationships between the partners, the headteachers, staff and governors created a strong family of schools with the shared determination to improve outcomes for all pupils.

The partner schools include:

  • Fylingdales Church of England (VC) Primary School
  • Danby Community Primary School
  • Egton CE (VA) Primary School
  • Goathland Primary School
  • Hawsker Church of England (VC) Primary School
  • Lythe Church of England (VC) Primary School
  • Ruswarp Church of England (VC) Primary School
  • Seton Community Primary School
  • Sleights Church of England (VC) Primary School

Why was the partnership created?

Every school is unique and individual, but through partnership work, all schools are able to celebrate excellent practice and tackle shared challenges together.  In a time when all schools and their staff are already working tirelessly, the Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership creates high quality opportunities for working together to support all children, staff and schools.

Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership member schools have many existing similarities in relation to their school size and locality. Some schools already work together as neighbours, or in federation. There is already a well established and existing understanding of how each of our schools work.

What does YCEP actually do?

Headteachers have been working closely to plan a range of projects and activities for Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership schools. This is a really exciting time!  Working together as partners allows our schools the opportunity to:

  • offer mutual support and strength to each of our small schools, who may be geographically isolated.
  • share and celebrate our achievements and great work.
  • make shared plans for developing the work of our schools.
  • enable our dedicated staff access to high quality training and networking.
  • establish projects and opportunities for the benefit all children across the partnership.

What next?

Shared working is already proving to be a significant benefit to all our partners. Schools across the partnership have collaborated to share excellent practice through subject lead networks and peer‑to‑peer support. Projects on early reading and Early Years provision were just the beginning.

Regular opportunities for staff to work in cross‑school subject specialist teams provide high‑quality CPD and help to quality‑assure the curriculum offer within each individual school. More recently, our newly established Chair of Governors network has begun offering valuable support to both new and experienced Chairs. This strengthens governance across the partnership and ensures every member feels confident and well supported.

Meanwhile, our children have benefited from increased opportunities through YCEP.  Our highly successful Leadership Day has now become an annual event, as has the Science Day, run in conjunction with our secondary school colleagues.  An end of term celebration, Jubilee Sports, is also set to become a regular event.

Each partner remains a proud, individual school while enjoying the many advantages of working closely with others who share a deep commitment to serving the children and communities of our Yorkshire Coast.

Stronger together, our schools look forward to an exciting future.
