The Ruswarp Way Behaviour Curriculum
Our Behaviour Curriculum, The Ruswarp Way, clearly sets out our intent to establish a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment in which all pupils can flourish. It has been developed through extensive collaborative work with partner schools as part of the Behaviour Hub project, with generous support from Stanley Road Primary School in Oldham. The curriculum defines consistent routines, expectations and responses which are implemented by all staff, ensuring pupils experience a predictable and inclusive culture where high standards of behaviour are taught, modelled and reinforced. This consistency enables pupils to understand what is expected of them and supports them to regulate their own behaviour effectively.
The impact of this approach is seen in the exemplary behaviour and positive attitudes to learning demonstrated by our pupils across the school. A strong emphasis is placed on developing high‑quality oracy skills so that pupils can communicate confidently, respectfully and clearly – supporting positive behaviour, strong relationships and successful participation in modern British society.
Our core rules of Ready, Respectful and Safe are well understood, consistently applied and lived out by the whole school community. Rooted in our Christian vision to Think for Yourself and Act for Others, the Behaviour Curriculum contributes strongly to pupils’ personal development, helping them to grow as responsible, reflective and considerate individuals. Visitors frequently comment on the calm, respectful ethos of the school, and we are proud of the way our pupils embody The Ruswarp Way each day.
